Creek 9 Academy Mission: The Meadowcreek High School Creek 9 Academy will provide our students with a safe, nurturing, and rigorous learning environment enhancing emotional and social maturity to ensure a smooth transition to high school while preparing students for a successful future.
Creek 9 Academy Vision: Through a challenging and nurturing environment, 9th grade students will experience success on academic, social, and emotional levels. Freshman Academy teachers and leaders will work together to facilitate student growth and achievement. Students will develop into strong advocates for their success as lifelong learners.
The Creek Nine Academy is an extension of Meadowcreek High School and is designed to provide incoming freshman with a smooth transition this most pivotal year in high school. Research shows that separating ninth-grade students allows them to become better acquainted with the rigors of a high school curriculum in an environment that also allows them to mature and grow both academically and socially. Of equal importance, freshman academies are structured to give each student more individual attention, which translates into increased academic performance, fewer absences, and fewer behavior disturbances.
We are an academy of teachers, students, administrators, counselors, and parents committed to the achievement of our students. We consider ourselves a school-within-a-school organized around interdisciplinary teams of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies that share a common goal of academic excellence for all students, in all areas, always. Located in a designated area of the school building, teachers work together in cooperative learning teams to plan specific strategies for each student’s success. Therefore, incoming freshmen are connected to a select team of caring academy staff who use research proven best instructional strategies to teach the curriculum as well as address their students' needs more personally.
The Ninth Grade Advisement is an integral part of our academy and focuses on developing and honing the personal and academic skills of these students, while connecting them to the academic and career pathways that will define their next three years of high school.
In addition, students in the Creek Nine Academy can explore the three Academies at Meadowcreek High School: STEM, International Business and Public Service & Leadership in order to make an informed decision about their CTE pathway of study starting in 10th grade.
The Meadowcreek High School Creek Nine Academy is built on four cornerstones we call The Four-Cs: Community, Character, Critical Thinking, and Commitment and operates under the motto “Where Excellence Begins.”
